How it all started is ..

Sam (the Stinky artist) had been traveling in India and Nepal. When she returned to Portland, Oregon, her most current home she found a job working in the downtown laundromat. While working she found an old tweed coat that someone had thrown out of  their laundry and into the garbage . From this coat she created a hand-stitched, stuffed dog for her soon-to- be husband. This stuffed creation was fashioned after the many cartoon drawings she often did of the dog her boyfriend had rescued from the pound. She did not give this old tweed dog much thought for some time.

A couple of years later, after much prodding by family and friends, Sam decided to try selling her art at the Portland Saturday Market in Portland, Oregon. It was here that "Stinky" was given his name. Stinky became popular right away and soon Sam was drawing constantly to keep up with demand. Three years later, the artist, husband, and stinky kids moved to a quaint village in upstate New York. A couple years after moving to N.Y., a number of miraculous coincidences brought Stinky to the internet. The great response to Stinky on the net was an indication that Stinky was here to stay.

July 2004: The Stinky Art Company opened it's doors in Northville, N.Y. The ultimate goal of the Stinky Art Company is to support Christian relief work for the poor wherever it may be needed. Sam (the Stinky artist) gives all credit and praise to God for her Stinky abilities. She also gives great thanks to her loving family and all the great Stinky supporters.

August 2007: Stinky Art Company is featured in Fulton County Life Magazine published by Joe Altieri of Online Community Corp. While waiting to do an interview with Sam, Joe is amazed at the reaction of children and parents as they enter the store. It was at this moment Joe decides Stinky Dog is not a small story for the inside pages but a true cover story. Soon after the release of the Fulton County Life Magazine, Altieri offers to assist Stinky Art Company with their online marketing efforts by designing and building a full e-commerce web site for the Stinky product line. Instantly becoming a fan of the Stinky Dog brand and a friend of the McCoulgh Family, Joe continued to work with the Stinky Art Company.

Today Joe Altieri is the Director of Sales and Marketing and is responsible for Stinky Dog's National Distribution. "In all of my years as a Marketing Professional and out of all of the stories we have covered in our magazine, nothing compares to the reaction and smiles brought by Stinky Dog. It's so simple and so much fun I just had to be a part of it" states Altieri.

Sam continues to design Stinky Dog merchandise and has been working on a series of story books to be sold in established retail outlets .

Stinky Dog products are currently being distributed via the Internet and through retail outlets across the United States.

We look forward to the day when Stinky Dog becomes a Global Icon with a portion of the proceeds going towards helping under-privileged kids and villages throughout the world.

Thank you for visiting our web site and we hope you find joy in the Stinky Dog product line.
