Sam(the Stinky artist)
had been travelling in India and Nepal. When she returned to Portland,
Oregon, her most current home she found a job working in the downtown
laundromat. While working she found an old tweed coat that someone
had thrown out of their laundry and into the garbage . From
this coat she created a hand-stitched, stuffed dog for her soon-to-
be husband. This stuffed creation was fashioned after the many
cartoon drawings she often did of the dog her boyfriend had rescued
from the pound. She did not give this old tweed dog much thought
for some time.
A couple of years
later, after much prodding by family and friends, Sam decided
to try selling her art at the Portland Saturday Market in Portland,
Oregon. It was here that "Stinky" was given his name.
Stinky became popular right away and soon Sam was drawing constantly
to keep up with demand. Three years later, the artist, husband,
and stinky kids moved to a quaint village in upstate New York.
A couple years after moving to N.Y., a number of miraculous coincidences
brought Stinky to the internet. The great response to Stinky on
the net was an indication that Stinky was here to stay.
July 2004 the Stinky
Art Company opened it's doors in Northville, N.Y. The ultimate
goal of the Stinky Art Company is to support Christian relief
work for the poor wherever it may be needed. Sam(the Stinky artist)
gives all credit and praise to God for her Stinky abilities. She
also gives great thanks to her loving family and all the great
Stinky supporters.
